The Art of Saracasm

Concerning the Girl

Hey there, fellow tumblr users!

I’m Sara.  Pleasure to meet you in the big, wide world of the interwebs.

So.  Cutting to the chase, a few things about my life and myself:

  1. I am 17 years old, and astrologically speaking, I’m a Cancer (I was born in June).  Not that I put any stock into star signs.
  2. I have a voracious appetite for the written word, and I’m almost always carrying a book in my bag.
  3. I speak two languages fluently, English and French, but I’d like to learn at least one other. Italian, Latin, Ancient Greek, Scottish Gaelic and Icelandic are all tongues of varying interest to me, depending on the day.
  4. I’m still in high school, but next year I’ll be thrown out into the big wide world.  I’ll be going to university to Major in Theatre.  I’m also thinking of Minoring in Music, Linguistics, Classical Studies, or just History in general.
  5. I’ve lived in a small city just outside of Toronto practically my whole life.  It’s a nice city - if you like that sort of thing.  I prefer big cities myself.
  6. I am quite shy and soft-spoken, and I don’t really open up to people often.  I’m very affectionate though, with people I know and like.  I love giving hugs, and for what I lack in height, I make up for with a pretty fierce bear-hug, and an affinity for climbing people.
  7. I’ve been involved with theatre productions since I was pretty young (my first time onstage was age 5), but I hadn’t really gotten serious about it until I started partaking in my high school’s productions.  That was six years, ago.  And now they’re basically my life.
  8. For all of my people-oriented activities, I do prefer to be alone.  I work (mostly), read, paint, dream, and lurk around on my computer.
  9. I have a serious obsession with the British Isles, and if I had things my way, I would pack up and move there now.  Canadian weather does not agree with Sara.  My heritage (English, Scottish, Icelandic, and Danish), and subsequently my fair skin, are huge contributing factors to that.
  10. My favourite things to eat are shepherd’s pie, honeydew melon, and maltesers.  Honestly, though, if you put food in front of me, I’ll probably eat it (except yams, they’re gross).  I like trying new foods.
  11. I spend way too much time watching films.  I’m borderline obsessed with period films, the classics, and cinema history (and these are my top fifteen films ever).
  12. I love history, particularly the 19th and 20th centuries, and also the Dark Ages.  I have a kind of morbid fascination with Nazi Germany, and WWII in general.  Much love for the 1940’s, a lot of my wardrobe is inspired by the lovely ladies of that time.
  13. Along with history, I lovelovelove mythology.  Norse is my favourite.
  14. I’m on my school’s trivia team, so the random bits of information I find here and there are actually quite useful.  Mostly, I take care of the film, history and literature questions.  Which is A-okay with me!
  15. I’ve been told on more than one occasion that I’ll make an excellent grandmother.  Most of my free time is spent doing relatively grandmotherly things (baking for people, knitting things for people, darning and stitching things up for people), so I guess it’s pretty accurate
  16. I consider my intelligence to be my greatest asset, and I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m a geek in every sense of the word.

One more thing: I do tend to be a bit shy online, and I keep to myself a lot, but I like to think that I’m pretty easy-going, so if there’s anything on your mind, or you just want to have a chat, feel free to drop a line.

WHAT YOU’LL LIKELY FIND HERE

It’s generally a mish-mash of all kinds of things, and if something strikes my fancy, I’ll probably reblog it.  For the most part, that consists of the following:
